It’s clear that the Coalition wants us to think that if the budget is limited we really should either cut taxes at the high end of the revenue scale, or maybe cut welfare spending. It does not need us to figure out what’s vital, and what’s surplus. We cannot see that the two have a direct link. If we do that, we realise the one choice is to keep presenting others, including the rich and well-connected, the money they already have, but also boosting the proportion of tax paid by the center and low income groups.
Unquestionably, this’s because the Coalition does not want us to have one more look at what is effective and what doesn’t work. In a nutshell: he has not done very much of anything at all.
